Auckland, April 28. The police have summoned the officials of the fatal prize fight to appear on Tuesday, except the stake-holder, who was not present at the fight, and is not to be proceeded against. New Plymouth. April 28. Mr Thomas King, Chairman of the Harbour Board, died thjs morning, aged seyentyrthree years. He wa9 onß of the first setters, arriving here ia 1841. He was elected a member of the House of Representatives in 1851 and 1860, and held the position of Treasurer in the Prorincial Council. He was Manager of the Bank of New Zealand here for sixteen years, and since his retirement has taken an active part in matters connected with the harbour. He leave« a widow, three sons, and a daughter —Dr Truby. King, of Seasliff Lunatic Asylum, Mr Newton King, auctioneer here, and Mr Henry King and Mrs Marohant of Timaru. The deceased had been very infirm for some time. Wellington, April 28. Replying to the letter tVoni the Rev F, M. Isit.t-, the Tride? ar.dJL^bor Council passed the following resolution :—"The Council has considered the question of cheap, acd, if needful, free j ldicial separation, and is of opinion that facilities should be given to tfye movement by the Government. Jc considers it grievously wrong that a poor person should be. com- < pelled to live with a habitual dmnkard for life for w-jmfc of means to obtain a judicial separation. The difficulty in the way is as to the manner in which this desirable reform can best be attained. If the temperance party will take the lead in the matter the Council is prepared to give it all possible support, and suggests as a solution of the difficulty an extension of the procedure of the Married Women's Property Protection Act so as feo apply to the law of judicial separation."
