SOUTH RAKAIA ROAD BOARD

The ordinary meeting of above was held on Wednesday. Present : Messrs Coster (Chairman), Lyttelton, Mulligan, Stringfellow and Turner.

The Olerk reported that Beady had gone on with hig oontraot, but Brown had not. Only one tender had been reoeived for the outting to river. Tenders for metalling had not been called as everyone with hones wbb busy. Tb« Chairman Btated that A. Haslett's tender for temporary repairs to outting for £7 had b«en aooepted during the month— The Chairman's action was approved of. The Clerk was instructed to oall for tenders for metalling Mainwaring'a road and completing Brown's oontraot on Great South road, tenders to be m for next meeting. Correspondence was reoeived :— (1) From the County Counoil respecting the county race. — (2) From Mr Oxley, asking permission to ereot a temporary fence m Cridland St. Granted on the condition that the fenoe be approved by the Board and subject to removal at an hour s notice by the Board. — (3) From Mr Brooks re poisoned grain, — (4) From Mr Cambridge on tha nama nnhjaot. It was resolved to replenish tho office furniture.

Accounts were passed for payment for £49 16s Bd.

Tho members went into oemetery business. The Chairman reported his aotion at the Oounoil respecting grants. It waß resolved to apply for a grant of £25 for oemetery purposes. Mr Brimioombe wrote claiming £6 16s for harvesting hay. Messrs Ooster and Turner were appointed to enquire into the matter and settle the same. The meeting then adjourned.
