SACRED HEART SELECT SCHOOL

The annual distribution of prizes m > oonneotlon with the Sacred Heatt Seleot ■ School took place at the Convent yesterday, and m aocordnnoa with the usual custom on such occasions, very oareful > preparations were made for the reception of the large number of visitors who attended. An attractive programme of musical items had been prepared, and the ' room m whioh the concert waa given and the presentation of prizes made was very tastefully decorated. Specimens of the work of the pupils attending the school were on view and elicited the enoominma of the visitors. The needle and crewel work, painting, artificial flowers, etc, were even more creditable than was the oase last year, when we took occasion to specially comment on the excellence of the work displayed, and the good Slaters are entitled to tho very highest oredlt for the success that has attended their labors. The exerolse books were modelß of neatness and evidenoed tha oareful and painstaking manner In whioh the pupils had been taught. The concert passed off m a most successful manner, all the items being rendered In a manner that was really creditable The programme waa aa follows : — Daet (two Pianos), " Moonlight on the Lake," Misses Wilkinson, A. Henry, Adams and Hannan ; Song, "Tel me where do Fairies Dwell," Senior Class ; Solo (two Pianos and Harmonium), " Tired," Miases Adams, Wilkinson and Hannan ; Song, >' The Robin," Junior Class ; D not (two Pianos), " Little Buds," Misses Sutherland, McOormiok, Baylis and O'Malley ; Duet (Vooal), "The Silent Teaohera," Misses Berg and A. Henry ; Solo (Violin), "Wedding March," Miss Wilkinson; Duet (two Pianoß), ••Frozen Nest," Misses Hannan, A. Henry, M. McOormiok and Wilkinson ; Song, " The Elfin Call," Senior Class ; Solo (two Pianos), "Beautiful Summer Evening." Misses Wilkinson and Hannan ; Solo (Vocal), " The Blind Girl to Her Harp," Miss K. Henry ; Duet (Piano and Harmonium), " Benediotus," from Mozart's " Twelfth Mass," Miss A. Henry, Wilkinson, and Hannan. The concert conoluded with a drama In two acts, "The Martprdom of St. Agnes," the characters iv whioh were taken by Misses Wilkinson, Dunoao, Crowe, _L McCLrmlck, B. Berg, L. McG. andel, Hanuam, C. Berg, K. MoOormlck, Sutherland and A. Henry. This was performed m an excellent manner, the young ladles giving evidence of oareful training m their respective parts.
