NGA’S 1.T.8.
If you chaps will only listen I will endeavour to decree And give you all the lowdown On Ngaruawahia’s 1.T.8. Their O.C. he’s a Major A man you cannot sway, He’s been through the mill and knows his drill, Does Major Ackie Day. He rules the lads with an iron hand And language rather strong; But the boys all say that Major Day Will do to take along. He has a staff of officers— Hill, Hutchinson and Rayner, There’s Capt. John H. Kearney The expert weapon trainer. ~ I There’s S/M Bill McGibbon And S/Sgt. Alfred Currie, Jack Weaver’s voice leaves little choice As he tells the boys to hurry. There’s Sandy Powell and Taffey Miles, 1 ■ S Jim Norris and Des. Yates, The one and only Mike Maloney, Who’s always making dates. Bob Derwin plays his trumpet Every time he gets the chance, And Sgt. Desmond’s going to wed— He’s fallen for romance. Red Douglas was a wrestler But he can’t be blamed for that; , - The lads all watch their P’s and Q’s 'Case he puts them on the mat. Cliff Miller runs the Orderly Room With the help of Cpl. Grace, And you’ll often see Ike Vuletich / Limping round the place. ■ • ' gif 7 :• ■ ■ ■■■ ' Well anyway they’re a darn good crowd, As you can plainly see. You couldn’t get a better mob Than Ngaruawahia’s 1.T.8. —J.P., Ngaruawahia.
