AIRMEN AT PLAY

A.D.U. Beats A.T.C. Teams from the Air Training Corp* (Wellington) tint! the Air Defence Unit, from. a IS’ortb Island centre, played a cur-tain-raiser at Athletic Park on Saturday afternoon. The youthful players entered into their work with great zest, and revealed that they were in good physical shape. The A.D.U. team had better coin bination, and ran out winners by 11 points to; 3. Tries for the winners were scored by Preston, Patterson and Me Gill, one of which was converted by Preston. The only points scored by A.T.C. were presented to them by the referee, Mr. N. Neilson. Muir took a penalty kick, which hit the left-hand upright, and rebounded into the field of play. The sun was in the referee’s eyes, and as he saw a line-umpire’s flag raised at the posts he awarded a goal to A.T.C.
