MONEY FOR TROOPS
Dispatch Of Remittances Overseas : I A slight change in the procedure for remitting .money to members of the armed forces serving overseas was announced on Saturday by the Minister of Defence,Mr. Jones. A special public account lodgment slip will be put into operation at the various branches of the Bank of New Zealand throughout the Dominion today. The lodgment slip is in three parts; one portion will be retained by the bank, the other two portions will bi handed to the remitter, who must forward the part marked “Department's copy” to the department concerned-.-
if the < remittance is to a soldier, to the Director, Base Records. Wellington; if to a sailor, to Navy Office, Wellington; if to an airman, to Air De partment, ■Wellington. The remaining portion, marked “Depositor’s Receipt. - is to be retained by the remitter as his acknowledgment of the money having been paid to the bank. A further acknowledgment will be given by the armed service department concerned'when the money is dispatched overseas. A separate lodgment slip is required for each individual to whom money is remitted except in cases where remittances are made to groups of persons in the same armed service. In these cases one form may be used in respect of a group in the same service provided two lists of the persons to whom the remittances are (made are attached showing the regimental number, rank, name, unit, location (if konwn), and the amount of each iudi-
vidual remittance,. One copy of the list will be retained by the bank and one copy must be attached to the department’s copy of the lodgment form and sent with that portion to the appropriate armed service department.
There will be no necessity to write tetters as in the past to notify to whom the money is to be forwarded, as provision is made on the lodgment slip for this. information.
