Thy kind but searching glance can sear - The very wounds that shame would hide Thy touch has still its ancient power; No word from Thee can fruitless fall; > • ' ■ ■ Hear in this solemn evening hour, And in Thy mercy heal us all.” • Could ofie look into the hearts and minds of the companies of soldiers gathered together in the various camps, doubtless one would find as great a variety of diseases and sicknesses of the hearts and minds as Christ found of bodily disease in those crowds that thronged around Him for healing, but one would find this great difference also. The latter companies of people came to Him because they knew they were sick and unable to cure themselves, but they believed that He could heal them. Their , faith was riot misplaced, for in wonderful compassioh and mercy “He healed them all.”

But how many of the former companies of those, who at the call of duty are leaving all and going forth to face death — how many <jf them realise that they need healing of heart and soul?

The enemy has so be-drugged themwith the so-called pleasures of this world,, that they never give a thought to the all important question of eternity. May the nightly messages from Everyman’s Hut awaken them to their need of healing and also bring them to the One Who is able and willing to heal and to keep.

Owing to the scope of Everyman’s Hut work being enlarged to include the distribution of the Scripture Gift Mission’s- Active Service Testaments to Air Force Stations and military points outside the Camps, the need of an assistant for Mr. Les Taylor has been apparent and this need has been met by the arrival of Mr. John Brunt from Auckland. John is no stranger, as he spent four months in Trentham with the overseas forces before being rejected for physical disability. The authorities have very kindly released him from further military duties so that he may give his whole time to work at Everyman’s. Hut. During the week he was fittingly welcomed to the Hut by Mr. Taylor and about two dozen of the Christian boys.

May the blessing of the Lord be with him.
