PRESENTATION TO LANCE CORP. BOOKER.
A presentation was made to Lance Corp. Booker in the Camp Band Hut on Wednesday last, on his departure from the Trentham Camp Band, for private reasons. Capt. Pike made the presentation of a Loewe Pipe and in doing so dwelt on the valuable services rendered by Lance Corp. Booker. These services, according to the Master, have been 100 per cent, which speaks volumes to our departing friend and Bandsman. Capt. pike’s tributes to Herb, were not over-esti-mated, for not only was he a 100 per cent. Bandsman, he was a 100 per cent, soldier and was held in the highest esteem by all that made his acquaintance. As aBB flat Bass player he is unsurpassed and his vacancy will be hard to fill. 1 •'»
Lance Corp. Booker, on receiving the presentation expressed his sorrow on having to leave the Trentham Band
and thanked one and all for their kind words and presentation. The good times spent with the band boys would ever remain in his memory. “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow” terminated the proceedings.
The Band in full strength marched our departing and popular Bandsman to the railway station playing his favourite march “Gill Bridge.” This is the first occasion of the Band’s procedure to play a retiring Bandsman out of camp.
