Minister Of Defence Takes
Salute
On its way along Aotea Quay at the beginning of a route march on Saturday afternoon the . second Wellington battalion of the National Reserve saluted the Minister of Defence, Mr. Jones. The 600 men commanded by Lieut.-Colonel C. M. Smith were headed by the Fort Dorset Band. After passing the saluting base the battalion marched along the Hutt Road up the Kaiwarra Gorge to Ngaio and back to the city, via Wilton.' Road. A “March of Time” cameraman took moving pictures of the march by the men, who are nearly all returned soldiers.
