Minister Satisfied With Expansion Satisfaction with the expansion of the New Zealand Air Force was ex pressed by the Minister of Defence, Mr Jones, who stated that the strength at present was 3604 airmen with 387 offi cers Thirty-six pilot-officers were en route to England, and 2096 applicants awaited interview by the selection com inittee, the number in the various towns being as follows Auckland, 579; Wei lington, 680: Christchurch. 233: Dunedin. 122 : Invercargill, 52 ; Blenheim, 14 ; Nelson. 25: New Plymouth. 79; Napier, 152; Palmerston North, 80: Wanganui 80. '
