His father, Mr. G. McKoy, served with the Wellington Battalion in the last war, while his grandfather served in the Maori war. having settled in Taranaki on his retirement from the regular army. The family has in its possession 48 medals won on active service by members of the family in all parts of the Empire. One is a Waterloo decoration won by a McKoy of the Royal Horse Guarcis.
