DISTRICT EXECUTIVE MEETINGS

AUCKLAND. April Vth: Meeting held in the Temperance |o>m at 1.30 p.m. Mr*. Long, president, in the chair. Twenty-two members present. Demotions led by Mrs. Bragg, and a sclo given bv Mrs. Castleton. Members were, welcomed and specially Sister T f «,sie. Letter of thanks to be sent to Mrs. Williams who had suffered bereavement. Apologies from absent members sustained. Temiwrauce fact given. Minutes read and confirmed. President wrote to Minister of Railways re drinking on trains. Financial statement given by Mrs. \\anhili Arrangements made for Mothers’ Day gathering on May 13th. , More representation on National Council ol \V, Mien, rive members now on Council. Correspondence was read and discussed. Members asked to help on Poppy Day and also at the Patriotic Shop*. Arrangements made for welcome to Miss Andrews. Report on Maori Hostel work given by M s. Lmg who also intimated that Judge Shepherd would be visiting the Hostel in April. Annual Report had been sent to the IF n. Mr. Mason and to Mr. Allum, the Mjyor. Letters were received from these gentlemen congratulating members on their v.ork and appreciating the same. Mrs. Lee Cowie sent a love message to all members. . . Members were asked to notify their Unions re money for work in connection with the R< val Commission. Benediction.

SOUTH AUCKLAND. April 27th: Held iu the parlour of St. Paul's Methodist Church, Hamilton; president, Mrs. Christian, in the chair. Five Unions were represented. Devotions taken by the president. Following on routine business correspondence « is read re visit of Miss Andrews to the District and concerning the Wallis House Findings. Tentative suggestions as to the best me to make of Miss Andrews’ time were made; final arrangements being left till Unions had discussed this among their own members. Plans tor District Convention were made; this to be held at Hamilton on September 22nd and 23rd. Programme mapped out. Petty ca->h voted for secretary. President congratulated on becoming editor of “W.R.” Mrs. Christian intimated that she would not stand nomination as District President for next >• ar. Various other matters talked over and meeting closed with Benediction. TARANAKI. Meeting held at New Plymouth. A tribute was paid to the life of one of our sisters who h.»s passed away, Mrs. Mac Kinder, by Mrs. Arthur, who counted it a privilege to reside in the same district and to witness her Christian spirit and devotion to the temperance cause. The district president was unable to Fe present owing to illness, and a letter of sympathy was sent; also to Mrs. Barron in i < r long illness away from home.
