RICCARTON’S 21st BIRTHDAY

June 10th. —Over 100 ladies present, representing other women’s organisations in Riccarton and suburban unions. A musical programme and a onc-act play was presented hv Mrs. C. Davies and thoroughly enjoyed. Long service badges were presented Mrs. Gainsford, 30 years’ service, and Mrs. Newth, 21 years’ service as secretary. Sprays were presented to tin Mayoress of Riccarton tMrs. Kvle). Mesdames C. W. Barrell, (irittiihs, McLean, Frighting, Daly, Connihan and Newth. A gift of love and appreciation from the members was made to the president and secretary in the from of hooks. The president, in thanking officers and members for fellowship and co-operation, spoke on the need for unity for the Christian Order, ,! 'is being demonstrated by the different organisations l>eing present. A beautiful birthday cake, made and donated by Mrs. Griffiths, was cut by the Mayoress, members serving afternoon tea. Greetings received from all W.C.T.U.s represented. and women’s organisations represented. Mrs. F. J. T. Grigg. on behalf of North Canterbury District officers, presented Mrs. 1. \V. Barrell with a h antiful spray of flowers. Three dozen “White Riblions” distributed to noninembers.
