PRESIDENT’S LETTER

My Dear Friends, — This is a busy year—Franchise celebrations and an election. We can rejoice in the celebrations of fifty years of franchise for women. Much has been accomplished. Many laws have been enacted for women and children since women have had an opj>ortunitv to vote, but Drink seems to be entrenched —a giant enemy to goodness, purity and truth. Let us fortify ourselves by prayer, remembering our Lord’s teaching in Luke, 18th chapter. We read of the tin fortunate w idow and how Jesus said, “Shall not God avenge His own elect which cry day and night unto Him, though He txar long with them.*’ Prayer, incessant prayer, let us give ourselves to prayer, then follow the teaching of St. James, “I will shew' thee m> faith by my works.” There are only two months left in which to do intensive work. Home meetings to interest and gain the indifferent. Literature distribution street by street. Exhibits in some prominent place, such as a pair of scales showing the amount of money si>ent each year on alcoholic beverages compared with the amc n* sjent on education, or some other important profession or trade. Food value of one bottle of bee» compared with one liottle of milk. There are many comparisons which night be used effectively. Ask your minister to preach on the subject. Win your neighbour’s interest by giving her the “White Ribbon” to read, marking some sjiecial paragraph. Rope in the young folk t<» help.
