How the Inland Unions can Help the Seaport Unions.
Dear Sisters, — Perhaps among the hardest worked of our W.R. Sisters are those who .ire engaged in efforts connected with out Sailors Kists and all work connected with the uplifting of those men “ w li. *go down to the sea ill ships.” Tile work often falls oil the same women vear in and year out. Would it not be possible l«*r the inland members to do a little more to help on this splendid work ? 1 was telling Mrs. Cole recent lv of tile success of a “ Sailors Sunday ” our l'nion arranged, and she asked 1.1 to write a letter to our pa) er urging Vr.ions to institute a sailors’ service also. We arranged a big open-air service. bo 1<» al Band gave their services, and rendered suitable music. Our printer {Tinted two hymns, “ Internal Father” and “Great Ruler of t’ e Land ai d Sea,” and also gave a donation nearv covering cost. Sj eaters connected with work among sailors came out from thr stch' rch, and a substantial c lVct ; on was taken up at the conch sion of a very beautiful opena r Stndav afternoon service. Our In on bore to make this an annual appeal. Vow, in our large cities what help could be got for s eh a service ? We trust large and small Pilings will discuss this matter. When within distance of ports, 111 11 are willing to come off tlu* boa's i’ll I assist. The Seaport Vn on Sisters would be much etico* raged and materially assisted. 0 r M ivors nd citizens readily fall line an 1 help. I trust this s >' t st on will le acted upon and ’ro e si cce sful, for the sake of s me motors “sailor laddie.” Yours for “ God, Home, and Humanity, ’’ LOVIK HARRISON, Kaiapoi.
