WORK AMONGST JEWS.

A worker writes: "One day I visited a leather shop where there were several Jews. When the proprietor learnfrom where I came he asked m an excited voice if I were not afraid to come into such a Jewish nest! Immediately an earnest discussion arose. While we were speaking the shopman called m a young man who was passing by, an orthodox Jew, whom he called Rabbi Elieser. He proved to be a real Talmudical scholar ana a candidate for the Rabbinate; he spoke of the Talmud and Midrash and customs and manners, but through it all one could see that he was m a great doubt himself, but of course m the presence of his co-religionists, he must agree with them, but the prophecies m Isaiah liii. and m Daniel made an impression on his conscience, and the hour and a-half talk that we had together did not seem enpugh for him, for he made as though he would go several times, and every time he turned back he had a new question, for instance, 'Do you think that our great learned people have made a mistake about Jesus?' or 'Do you believe that true Christianity is also true Judaism?' That what he had heard had influenced him was shown by the words he said when saying good-bye. 'May the Lord reveal to us His Truth?'"
