In the report of the 9th Annual Council of the P.P.A. occurs the following paragraph :—• The remits from the groups and districts were considered, and it was decided that the time had come to agitate for the closing of primary schools other than State schools, m the interests of national education, and of the State. The council reaffirmed its conviction that it is impolitic and improper that teachers other than those educated m the State schools or similar schools should be employed as teachers m our State schools. The days of Cromwell are passed, but the methods of the Soviet will quickly arrive m New Zealand if the P.P.A. has its way. It is interesting to note, too, that the President of the P.P.A. "stressed the need for the association to actively oppose the influences which are seeking to break the great and ; historic Church, of England." The President did not state what influences he referred to, so that we cannot say whether we agree with him or not; but the Anglican Church is ■quite capable of looking :■ after its own affairs and requires no help from the PiP.A. The Anglican] Church has a way of minding her own' business and does not "actively." or impertinentlyinterfere with the freedom of othur • people to ;mould their churches as they think best. . . ;; .. .. \ • ... : -
