Taradale.

Vicar: Rev. Canon A. P. Clarke,

A Gift Afternoon was held at Pakowhai on 19th May. Rain somewhat spoilt the attendance, nevertheless those who were present thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and were liberal m their gifts. A similar function took place m the Parish Hall, Taradale, at a . latev, date, and was one of the most successful we ever had.',. Mrs Redgrave ( and Miss Carter, of St! Mary 'is Home, most kindly journeyed from.. Napier, and gave great pleasure by helping to supply a liberal musical programme. Thjese gift afternoons fulfil a twofold purpose, for parishioners and friends from other churches are brought together socially, and their gifts m suitable articles for the various stalls, and their donations m money assist greatly m making our annual missionary sale a success.

The parish has received a most valuable gift, m the shape of half an acre of land m a splendid position m Avenue road, from Mr Oliver MeCutcheon. We are most grateful to him for his generosity, especially as the church population has so much increased m Greenmeadows that the necessity has arisen to supply services there as soon as it is possible to do so. Mr MeCutcheon has been moved to make this gift out of gratitude to God for the safe return of threo sons from the war. May this example be followed by fathers m other parts who have been similarly blessed.

In this parish the time is not very far hence when sites will be required at Pnkowhai, Awatoto, Riverbend road, and the Greenmeadows hills.
