There is a story of Mr Spurgeon which, if it is true, serves to show . that at least one of our famous preachers by no mean^ resented his, published sermons being preached without acknowledgment. Spurgeon was once staying at a little seaside town, and, on Sunday,^'visited the local Baptist chapel. He was much moved by the eloquent discourse he 'heard there, and, after the service' was over, hurried into ' the little vestry and grasped the preacher's hand, "My - dear sir, ' ' he exclaimed, ' * thank you for that splendid, sermon, it has done me a world of good." The minister ' modestly expressed his satisfaction, and 'kindly inquired the name of his admirer. "I'm Charles Haddon Spurgeon;" was the answer. "But, brother," gasped the astonished minister, "it was one of your sermons I preached." "I know, I know, but what does it matter? It's done me a world of good !"
