Vicar: Rev. G. W. Davidson. Elsthorpe. A very handsome tablet m memory of those who were killed during the war was unveiled by the Vicar, the tablet being given by the Elsthorpe Patriotic League. A good number were present, and after the dedication the Rev. J. W. Robertso'n (Presby^ , terian) and Messrs M. Ryan and A. Gilmour gave short, pithy addresses, We are very thankful for this worthy gift m memory of our , boys. ' Elsthorpe folk also gave recently a splendid gift evening and -social m aid of St. Hilda's Home €or Children, an£ as a result the marfager of the effort,. Mrs McAulay, handed over £19 to the matron for her boot and shoe fund and over six pounds' worth of meat, vegetables, eggs, butter, jam, plants and sundries. Other parishes might follow suit and so keep down the expenses. St. Mary's Home, Napier, needs support as well. We record the loss of a little bright son of our worthy secretary and layreader, who passed away after a nasty turn of. whooping cough. Our sympathy goes out to the parents and brothers and sfeter. Another parishioner, Grandma Megsoh, has gone to her rest. She was one who tried t<o do her duty m loving her Saviour by obedience to His commands—for she . was a regular communicant and a keen Gleaner who often prayed for missionaries and missionary work* and during her membership of the Gleaners' Union collected over £100 m her mission boxw .The Vicar made special mention of her m an address and m prayers at the following SunV: day's Eucharist. • „ ■ ;

Maori friends at fPatangata have "lad sad times lately—the Vicar haying taken seven funerals m three or four months, and a number of b9piisjns too, and m consequence of the ' need he now takes a service m the Maori meeting house for.the Maoris and soldier settlers at TeKura with promising success so far. We ought to haye more than a monthly service here ;judging by the numbersl, and also opportunities for Holy Communion.
