Vicar: Rev. K. H. Maclean, B.A. The infant classes on the Kindergarten system established m connection with S. Luke's Sunday School are proving very successful, and important results m connection with the religious life of the young .people may be hoped for therefrom. The annual picnic of S., Luke's Sunday School took place on Wednesday, January 26th, upwards of one hundred children and adults participating. The party was taken to Mr Sherrifl's farm m 'buses. The spot chosen under the pine trees, close to the Utuhina stream, is ideal for a picnic. The weather was somewhat dull, and free from the enervating heat of summer. Many allusions vvei-e made to the kindness of Mr Sherriff m allowing them the use of his grounds.- The children were entertadned with games, including rounders and foot races, which were thoroughly enjoyed. The Rev. K. E. Maclean and T. A. Meyer, and Mr : T. C. Hawkins (the Sunday School Superintendent) were unremitting m organising the amusements whereby 1 the» youngsters were kept busy. Refreshments were partaken of m the form of tea, sandwiches, and all j sorts of confectionery, at, half-past i twelve, and at four o'clock m the 1 afternoon. Luke's Church, on tie evening of Monday, February 7th, and was well attended. The Vicar presided, and gave an account of the Dominion Conference of the Society, held at| Napier, referring; 1 particularly to a remarkable paper on " Church Training/ read by Mr Crompton Smith, of Havelock. A discussion followed, and it was agreed to have a "quiet hour "m the Church on the following 1 Monday, February 14. Several members of the Society and others attended the "quiet hour" m question.
