Te Karaka.

Vicar : Rev. G. If. Watson. Rev. T. Te Kanapu* TJhe size of the Te Kanaka Parochial District has been greatly reduced by the formation of the new district of Matawai. We wish the new district every success under its 1 first Vicar, Itev. J. Pigott, who was instituted to his new. charge iby the Yen. Archdeacon Williams on January 30th. The Vicarage grounds have been ' greatly improved by the new fence, ( and .there is now every chance for a 1 very nice garden round the Church J and Vicarage. Our thanks are due d to Messrs Palmer and Hinton for the * gift o( the fence and to Mr Manuel 1 who for over a week superintended, i its erection. . 1 Mrs Watson has received a leitter 1 from Miss Ethel Ashley, London, ac- 1

t knowledging with thanks, the large , case of clothing- sent by ' the ladies a of the parish for the poor children r of England and Belgium, and it is a to be hoped that another such case V or perhaps two smaller ones will be I sant this year, for it is a direct way I of helping those who have lost so much by the war. The Sunday iSchool re-assembled on Sunday, February 13th, but we regret that we have lost another teacher m the departure of Miss Evelyn Bell, and we are m urgent need of another teacher. Our Sun--1 day School results m the recent > Diocesan Fjxamination were very 1 good and the School has kept up a very good standard m work and at--5 tendance, which must suffer unless more are willing to help m the Sun- ' da.y School. j, We are glad to welcome a> Church woman from the Old Country, Nurse Jarrett, who has been appointed L Native District Nurse at Te Kanaka. [ The Vicar is glad to see ,oine or two more attending the Intercession 1 Service and will be pleased to add new names to the list of those who have gone to fight the 'battles of their country, and for whom our prayers are especially desired.
