Dannevirke Bush District.

In the last month the visit of k our Bishop to the parish has been! the event. The Bishop came up on Saturday, July nth, and stayed at the Vicarage, meeting m the afternoon a number of the men of the parish. On Sunday morning 1 — raw and cold as it can be m this district — he took the eight o'clock celebration, assisted by thel Vicar and the Curate, and preached at both Mattins and Evensong. In the afternoon Mr Leonard ■Rathbone very kindly motored his Lordship to Matamau, where the Church of S. Michael and All AnF^ls was consecrated, being -now free from debt and completely finished. It is a great thing to have done so much as this, and it mark's another step forward m the history of the Church" m this part. On Monday, Mr Hartgill put a car at the disDosal of the Clergy, and the Bishop visited the site of the proposed To Rehuncra Church, arriving for lynch at the residence of Mr F. Gr. Cowper. Mrs H'artgill most kindly entertained the. Bishoo and Vicar at afternoon tea, and Mr F. G-. Knieht, Vicar's warden, at dinner. In the 'eveniner m suite of wet weather, our Rev. Father-iri-Grod was met socially m the Sunday School when addresses from the Vestry, Superintendent, and Sunday School teachers. C.8.M.5., Mothers ' Union , and Girl s ' Friendly Society were presented, and suitably acknowledged. A short programme of vocal and instrumental music was gone through,, and th'e Bishop, was jntp&duceii to the : members . gf the

flock over which <rOd has made, him overseer. .Everything went off delightfully and all were deeply; impressed with our Bishop's personality. The Bishop also promised to give us another visit on November 15th for the purpose of Confirmation. . We are sorry to say that the Rev. Mr Nicholas has not been. well. He has, however/ gone north for a short rest, the Rev. Mr Whibl'ey, Vicar of Weber, having kindly consented to tak© his place for a week ar two. Th© cold winds of winter have been playing havoc with our choir.; We are. very much m- need of more men's voices, especially tenors. ' Our Vicar's youngest son, the .Rev. Noel Robertshawe, M.A., preached m Dannevirke his farewell sermons before leaving for England, where he expects to arrive about August 1 5th. He is going to \york under Canon Tupper-Carey, of Th'e Vicar wishes to thank all who so kindly helped to. make our Bishop's visit a success. . .
