Editorial.

Now it is the action of Austria which bids fair to bring, upon millions of people the awful miseries which war entails. It is clear that our own Nation is likely to be drawn into the struggle, the, effects, of which would rapidly be felt m every portion of our world-wide empire. The daily prayer of the Church, " Give peace m our time, 0 L,ord," will have special force and meaning at thisi crisis m the world's history. Deaconess Esther Brand. We hope this month to have the' pleasure of welcoming m Napier Deaconess Brand, who has been invited to take the oversight of work m connection with a Rescue Home and generally to help m training women workers for the Church m this, Diocese. Deaconess Brand has occupied an important post m the Old Country, as head of the Deaconess Home m the Diocese of Kly, and comes to the Diocese of Waiapu, with the highest commendations. C.E.M.S. The Acting Organising Secretary of the Church of E}ngland Men's Society, the Rev. J. . Delacourt Russel,, is paying a visit to its Branches m the Diocese. A new Branch is m course of formation at Tauranga. The Brethren m the. different Branches have afforded Mr Russell a most hearty, welcome!
