Congregational Opinion.
At the meeting of the Congregational Union of New South Wales, held m October, the Committee of Religious Instruction m Public Schools reported that a great num-
ber of., ministers were- visiting the schools. The Committee further ad /ised that the Union should cooperate with other denominations! for .the purpose of extending the system of religious instruction. The Rev. Dr. Gpsmah, Theological Tutor of. the Congregational Union of Victoria, who holds a very high place m pubiic esteem, and who represents the democratic ideals and the theological freedom of the typical Congregationalist.. has written to the Press contending that general religious teaching may be safely entrusted to the State Schools teacher, and commending to the people of Victoria that system of religious instruction which is now being advocated .m New Zealand.
