Building Notes.
WELLINGTON. The following building permits have been received and approved by the City Engineer:—• From 12/12/1.1 to 23/1/12 —39 applications for permission to erect; 35 plans examined and approved. City district, £28,416; Melrose district, £4304; Wadcstown district, £540; Northland district, £7OO. The Tokanui mental hospital, on the Main Trunk Railway, is to be considerably enlarged in the near future, and two large building contracts have been let to accommodate 200 more patients. At the end of last month the Miramar ratepayers voted on the question of the Borough Council spending the large sum of £IB,OOO on increasing the size of the power station in connection with water supply and drainage scheme.
The water supply of Eona Bay is again to the fore, and a petition is now in course of circulation in the Borough urging the Council to take a poll of the ratepayers as to the question of a loan, to carry out the scheme which was reported on a year ago by Mr. Mestayer, G.E., and which will exactly meet the necessity .
