White Pine for England.

The Ayreshire, leaving for England about the end of last month, took a shipment of 20,000 superficial feet of New Zealand white pine from the West Coast of the South Island. This is the first consignment of a purchase of 120,000 ft. which has been made by Mr. Duncan Stelfox on behalf of his company which has its headquarters at Manchester. Hitherto this timber has not reached the English market in any appreciable quantities, but the company hopes that by thoroughly seasoning the wood before shipping it, they may be able to overcome the difficulties of carrying it in good condition. When once this is demonstrated, the firm hopes to inaugurate a very large business m exporting white pine to England, where it is in great request for packing purposes.
