Information is requested respecting the whereabouts of Harry Larkins, a witness in the case of Begina v. Walmer, charged with sodomy, committed in the Canterbury province. Larkins is about 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, medium build, sallow complexion, light hair, slight fair whiskers, beard and moustache, wore light tweed paget coat, moleskin trousers, light tweed cap or felt hat, carried a heavy swag —a new arrival. He crossed the Waitaki river from Canterbury into this province on

the sth December last, at Gfunnion’s station, and will likely seek employment at a station or on a road party.

Information is requested respecting the whereabouts of John Quin, the principal witness and informant in the case of Begina v. Harry Pearce, committed for trial for stealing from the person at Dunedin. Quin is a native of Cork, Ireland, a laborer and shearer, 36 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, sandy hair, sandy whiskers, beard and moustache worn rather short, thin features, florid complexion, light blue eyes, large front teeth, described in the Otago Police Gazette , 1871, page 71, as John Boland, alias Quin, alias Kelly He was employed at Merrie Creek Station, Balclutha division, for about three months, previous to the 30th November last. He left the Station after the shearing, and was heard of at Clinton on the Ist of December.

Information is requested respecting the whereabouts of Charles Hovenn, a carpenter’s assistant, 15 years of age, not tall for his age, stout build,, dark complexion, brown hair, dark blue eyes, wore dark tweed clothes, all of same material, lace-up boots, and cheese-cutter cap. He left his home at Dunedin on the 10th ultimo, and has not been heard of since.

He missing friend Patrick Small. — has been ascertained that in May, 1860, a soldier of this name belonging to the 40th Begiment left Hobart Town with the detachment stationed there for New Plymouth. He was discharged about April, 1866,. and in January, 1874, was residing in Barrack street, Auckland, near the Police Station.

Inquiries have been made through the Bight Honorable the Secretary of State for the Colonies respecting a person named Jean Duvalousky, a native of Teplitz, in the district of Zips, in Hungary, who left that town with his wife and four young children in April last, with the intention of proceeding to America; but wrote from London on the 7th April to his relatives to inform them that he had altered his destination to New Zealand, and has not been heard of since.
