HOUSE AND CATTLE STEALING.

Stolen between the hours of 7 and 10 o clock on the evening of the 22nd February, 1864, from Caversham, a light dapple grey draught horse, 6 years old, collar-marked on near shoulder, branded ER under the mane; the property of Mr. William Wilson Holmes, of Caversham, brewer, who offers a reward of £25 on conviction.

Stolen on or about the 10th of February, 1864, from Messrs. Cargill and Andrew’s run, Dumbarton Rock, near the Teviot, a light grey horse, hack breed, branded 5 near shoulder, an old scar on off hind thigh ; and a bay mare, hack breed, branded 5 near shoulder, LW near neck, and HD off shoulder; the property of Mr. Robert H. Turner of the Teviot, Suspicion, but no warrant, against a man named George Allen a baker, about 50 years old, 6 feet high, slight made, light brown hair mixed with grey, small moustache ; dressed in* moleskin trousers, dark Crimean shirt worn outside the trousers, and watertight boots. Mr. Turner guarantees a reward of £5 on conviction.

Stolen about the 26th of November, 1864, from Moeraki, a dark bay mare, 4 years old, 16 hands high, well bred, branded * v on near shoulder, blemish on near hind leg above fetlock; the property of Mr. Thomas H. Wright, at Messrs. Simpson and Taggart’s, Dunedin.

Stolen during the night of the 27th of February, 1864, from Hindon Flat, a light chesnut gelding, in good condition, branded B on near shoulder, small star on forehead, short switch tail; the property of Mr. A. Q. Henriques, acting gold receiver, Hindon.

Stolen on the 28th of January, 1864, from near the residence of Mr. William Rae, Stony Creek, Tokomairiro, a dark bay draught mare, white star on forehead, branded M near shoulder, C off shoulder, a ringworm very perceptible on near ribs; the property of Mr. Rae as above, who offers a reward of £lO on conviction of the thief and recovery of the mare.

Stolen about two months since, from the Deep Stream, a chesnut horse, 5 years old,

15 hands high, branded near shoulder* four legs white, blaze down face, and white spot on off hip; the property of William Miles, staying at Bromley’s Boarding-house, View-street, Dunedin.

A warrant has been issued by the Tuapeka Bench for the apprehension of To my Coyne , charged with stealing, at Tuaneka, on or about the 20th January, 1864, a bay gelding, 14 hands high, hind legs white, branded OX near shoulder; the property of Allan Fitch, of Weather stones.

Coyne is 24 years old, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark complexion, dark curly hair, whiskers, and moustache, worn short dressed in a suit of light tweed. He is a well known jockey, having ridden the “ Flying Buck ” in Melbourne about two years since.

A warrant has been issued by the Tuapeka Bench for the apprehension of Morris Dillon , .charged with having at Munroe’s, on the 13th day of February, 1864, stolen one bay mare, branded T off neck (since recovered), the property of Samuel Curreacli of Munroe’s. Dillon is from 30 to 35 years old, 5 feet 9 inches high, stout build, square shoulders, fair complexion, long bushy brown hair, whiskers and moustache, dressed in light drab coat, light tweed trousers and brown felt hat. A native of Dublin, a baker by trade.
