(From our own correspondent.) May 1. Archbishops Redwood and O'Shea and Bishop Liston paid a visit to the presbytery this week whilst on their way to attend the Jubilee celebrations in connection with Holy Cross College at Dunedin. On Anzac Day there was a large attendance at the Sacred Heart Church at nine o'clock, when a Solemn Requiem Mass was ’ offered for those who had made the supreme sacrifice. Rev, Father Ginisty was the cele-S brant, the Mass being sung in Gregorian chant by a strong male choir under the direction of the Rev. Fathers Hurley, S.M. (parish priest), and Barra, S.M., Mrs. N.
D. Mangos presiding at the organ. A stirring i sermon was readied by Father Barra, S.M., late N.Z.E.F. i- May 7. 4, The local branch of the Hibernian" Society Vis arranging for a ball to be held at St. If Patrick's Hall on the 20th inst. A strong committee has been elected to make the necessary arrangements. During the month of May there will be devotions every evening in honor of Our Lady, and on 17th inst. there will be a r procession in her honor in the Church of the Sacred Heart. The executive of the Catholic Club intend to promote a. series of euchre parties during the winter months. Valuable prizes will be awarded on each occasion, and at the close of the season special prizes will be given for ' the highest aggregate. Rev, Brother Basil has been in Tim am and district during the last fortnight collecting funds towards the Marist Brothers’ Novitiate at Tnakan.
