RUGBY FOOTBALLERS’ PICNIC. : V- The Dunedin Football Club’s sth grade team (Christian Brothers’ boys) and all the school teams held ’a';. very successful picnic at Company’s Bay last week. " Shortly aftep the ferry boat left the Dunedin wharf several of. the senior members of the club distributed generous supplies of sweets amongst the boys. The short trip down the harbor was enlivened by tire singing, of several well 'known.songs. The following: are. the results of the sports held at the picnic ground:—Christian Brothers- seven stone team—lst heat : J. Gonley 1, J. Casey 2, J/McCHntock 3; 2nd heat: K. Maloney 1, S. Airey 2, V. Cahill 3; final: S. Airey 1, J. Gonley and K. Maloney 2. Christian Brothers’ eight stone team—C. Dennehy 1, E. Fahey 2, L. O’Regan and M. Piper ■3, Dunedin “C” sth grade—V. Brown 1, T. Qualter 2, M. Junior Championship D.F.C. —R. Donaldson 1, C. Patterson 2, R. Cusack 3. Cross-country (about 2£ miles over a real cross-country course) Fahey (2mins) I, J. Gonley (2mins) 2, W. Tither (l|mins) 3, F. Columb (2jmins) 4, P. Williams (scratch) 5.. About 50 boys started in this race. The winner ran a good race and Avon by. about 40 seconds. A seven-a-side football match between sth grade ex-pupils and those still at school was full of excitement, and (after playing four extra spells) resulted in a draw, the score being 4-4. For the present day pupils J. Ryan scored and the old boys forced once. For the old boys R. Cusack scored and the present boys forced also. This was truly indicative of the merits of the teams. Mr. Cahill (president of the. D.F.C.) distributed the prizes to the winners. The hoys of the school wish to express sincere thanks to Mr. J. H. Dennehy, and also to others who helped in the arranging of a picnic, which was, in everyone’s opinion, “the best yet.” ' J'. —— ■' ■ Music Examinations ST. PHILOMENA’S COLLEGE, SOUTH DUNEDIN.
