TRENTHAM CAMP NOTES
The Catholic Hall at Treutham Camp was filled to overflowing recently (writes a correspondent), on the occasion of a most enjoyable concert given by a party from Wellington, assisted by some of the men in camp. A well-arranged programme was contributed to by Miss Douglas, Messrs Winston, IT. McCarthy, Evans, Arrowsmith, Shaddick; Hadfield, and Corporal Baker (songs), the latter’s contribution being with violin obligato by Sergeant Fyffe. Mr. H. McCarthy’s contributions in imitation of Harry Lauder were well given, and met with great acceptance. These entertainments are invariably of a. high order, and are fully appreciated by the soldiers; the main trouble being that the accommodation is on no occasion sufficiently adequate to enable all who desire to attend to do so. At the concert under notice the Rev. Fathers (Chaplain) Cullen, S.M., and in ane.. Upper Hutt, were present. At the close the National Anthem was sung, and cheers given for the performers. Sergeant J. Goughian, of the Headquarters Staff Musketry Department, who arranged for the visit of the party, has arranged for another party, including Misses McEnroe and Segrief, to go out to Treutham on a later Thursday evening. These talented ladies are always sure of a cordial reception at the camp.
