WEDDING BELLS

GAL VIN—THOMSON. On Tuesday last, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, a very pretty wedding was celebrated, the contracting parties being Mr. Michael George Galvin and Miss ■ Elizabeth Thomson, of Netherton (says the Oliinemuri Gazette of December 12). The church altar, before which the ceremony took place, was beautifully decorated for the occasion, and several friends of the happy couple came from Netherton to assist, at the function. During her residence there as teacher in the local school, the bride won the hearts of children and parents by her tact, attention to duty, and her kindly unassuming ways. The residents of Netherton appreciated her sterling worth as a teacher when they presented her with a beautiful souvenir of their appreciation on the occasion of her relinquishing her duties in the local school. During the marriage ceremony at St. Mary's the bride was given away by Mr. Neil McGregor Carter, Miss Mabel Stock and Mr. P. Galvin acting, as bridesmaid and best man respectively. The function was conducted by Eight Rev. Mgr. Hackett, and at its conclusion he heartily congratulated the young couple, wished them many years of connubial bliss, and prayed that Almighty God would extend to them through life those spiritual favors which would be to them a security of earthly happiness and a pledge of eternal welfare. Let religion direct you in all your actions (said the Monsignor), and you will not be disappointed in your hopes. It will qualify you to comfort and support each other through life ; it will promote your happiness here and prepare you for more lasting happiness hereafter. After the ceremony the bridal party proceeded in decorated motor cars to the residence of Mrs. Stock, of Puke, where a sumptuous wedding breakfa_st was provided.
