WEDDING BELLS

GOLDEN WEDDING. On September 22 a very pleasant gathering took place at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. P. Kennedy, St. Albans, to celebrate their golden wedding. . All their family were present, with the exception of their fourth son, who had left with the 17th Reinforcements. The oldest son presented the jubilarians each with a wellfilled purse of sovereigns, and Mrs. Kennedy was also the recipient of a beautiful bouquet of freesias and maiden-hair fern. Many congratulatory telegrams were received from old friends. Mr. Kennedy arrived in New Zealand in 1850, where he took part in the gold rush at Gabriel Gully. From there he visited the different centres on the West Coast, where he was engaged in prospecting. He then went back to Melbourne, and was on the diggings prior to his marriage. Returning to New Zealand, he took up farming in the Rangiora district, where ho remained until his retiuument three years ago.
