DIOCESE OF DUNEDIN
The Rev. Father Walsh and the two Fathers Roche, all of Sydney, passed through Dunedin on Saturday, on their return journey to Australia. Rev. Father Morkane and Mr. Cyril Ardagh have received word that they have obtained their B. A. degree. Mr. Maurice Spillane has passed the first section in Mental Science, Latin, and English. St. Dominick's College, Dunedin, has to record the following . distinguished, successes during the year: Miss Hilda M. McKay ~ has received intimation that she has passed her M.A. degree (First Class), and Miss Margaret A. Quilter has also received intimation that she has passed her B.A. degree. Miss Zita Venning,, a pupil of the college, has secured the Victor Harris Memorial Medal for violin playing (in the advanced grade), awarded by the Associated Board of R.A.M. and R.C.M. to the candidate gaining the highest marks in New Zealand in this subject. Last year this medal was won in the Intermediate Grade by Miss Vera Hannan, another pupil of the college. The Catholic stand came second in the Hospital Saturday collection this year. The official figures given at first were £35 15s, but on further inquiry it was found that the total should have been considerably larger, and the result given on Tuesday was £4B. This latter return is a much more likely result of the energy and devotion of our Catholic girls, many of whom devoted to the arduous business of street collecting the hours before and after their usual Saturday's work.
