A BIG LARK
The captain of a well-known football-club had. « turkey presented to him as a Christmas gift by the members of the team. On going to the bag in which he had deposited the turkey he found that ' the bird had flown.' He suspected three jovial acquaintances, and, on asking one of them, received the reply, ' It was only a lark.' 'Lark be bothered!' cried the captain; 'itweighed twenty pounds.'
