CATHOLIC SCHOOLS. In a Parliamentary return issued in December, 1911, we find that Anglican schools numbered up to date 10,952, being a shrinkage from 1902, when the number was 11,711. These schools represented an attendance of 1,750,094, a falling off from 1,927,663 in 1902. In the same period of nine years Council schools increased in number from 5878 to 8006, and in attendances from 2,369,980 to 3,164,591. The number of Catholic schools in 1902 was 1056, increasing to 1074 in 1911, with an attendance increasing from 269,191 for the first year named to 295,802 in 1911.
