(From our own correspondent.) .. \ ' v - - . ~ . December 13. The annual ; concert of the Sacred Heart School, Petone, was held in His Majesty's Theatre last Thursday night. There was a large attendance, including visitors from Wellington and the Hutt. - The various items were much appreciated, and : the excellence of the programme showed the care and trouble the Sisters of Notre Dame des Missions had taken with the children. A special word of praise-is due to Mrs. Casey for taking charge of the children on the night of the concert, also for _.■ assisting the Sisters to teach the children. At the interval Rev. Father McMenamin spoke a few . words, and thanked the people for attending in such large numbers. Society, held;: last Wednesday night, it was /decided to raise the contributions /Id per week, after the matter had been thoroughly explained by Bro. Callaghan, of Wellington. All the/city and suburban branches have now adopted the increased rates. ■""-' Mrs v ~ McArthur passed away at her residence, Beach street, last; Thursday: afternoon after a long illnessi.
