(From our own correspondent.)

D.C., Adm., to a large congregation, there was the usual procession, followed by Benediction. St. Gerard’s (men’s section) of the arch-confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament participated in the procession. . . Lower High street, on Thursday evening, September 5, and is to be continued over the following week. Many willing helpers are already at work, including the Marist Brothers’ Old Boys’ Association, and it is confidently anticipated that the primary object, the liquidating of existing liabilities, will be attained, and the way cleared for other necessary undertakings. On last Wednesday evening the literary and debating section of the Christchurch Catholic Club debated the question—As to whether the ‘ Yellow peril ’ constituted a real peril. The subject was handled in an exhaustive and interesting manner. Messrs. W. Jones, F. Rowe, and W. Dobbs spoke in the affirmative, and Messrs. C. Lafferty, J. J. Sullivan and J. Bridgeman m the negative. The judge decided the debate in favor or the affirmative side. On the motion of Mr. Sullivan a vote of thanks was accorded Mr. A. J. Mallev, for adjudicating. % J
