On Holy Thursday Mass was celebrated at 7 o'clock in the presence of a large congregation. On Friday titoe Mass of the Presanctified was celebrated by Father O'Connor at 9 o'clock, and the devotion of the Stations of the Cross took place at 3 o'clock, and there were th(3 Rosary and seimon in the evening. To-day ' (Easter Sunday), notwithstanding the inclement- weather, " there were very large congregations at the Masses, and numfcers approached the Holy Table. A Mlssa Cantata was celebrated at half-past ten, when the chrfir, under the coiwluctorshiip of Mr. F. O'Connor, sang Turner's Mass of St. Cecilia. Rev. Fa+.her O'Connor preached in the morning, a nd Rev. Father Gog&an at the evening devotions. A football match -was played" "on the Recreation ■Ground yesterday between; the) M^fosti Brothers' I'OM Boys' and the Wangaoiui Club. -In the 'first spell the visitors held the upper hand, and pressed .the local team. Southcombe kicked a penalty goal, and Richardson and U Champion each scored a try. the spell ending— Wanganui 9, * Old Boys ' nil. In the second spell matters were a little more even. S o on after resuming McCarthy scored for the local tram and Be a ttde converted -, then from a scrum J^. Mull a ney broke away and scored, Jtfe&ttie again converting. This made Wanganui 9 'Old Boys' 10, no farther change tak"n^ ilace. Considering tire lack of training the '>' Old Boys ' should give a good account of themselves in the Cup matches
