I Wellington, April 13. The High Commissioner cabled from London on April Mutton.—The market is quiet , holders firm. Arrivals from all parts since January 1 show a 'decrease of 500,000 carcases over the corresponding period of last, year. Small shipments are expected. Li^ht weights, are extremely soarce. A bris< demand prevails. The fellowing are th© current quotations-:—Canterbury mutton 4£d, North Island 4£d, River Plate 3£d.. There is _a dull sale for heavy carcases of mutton, which are quoted as follows .—Canterbury 3fu, North Island 3|d, Ri--ver Plate 3fd. Lamlb.—The market is firm- Stocks on hand are light, but the supply meets the demand. Heavy weights can obtain a small premium. Canterbury brands s|d, other than Canterbury s|d. Beef.—The market is firm.. Stocks of New Zealand brands in hand are light. Supplies of River Plate beef are heavy. There as 1 a moderate demand, which is purely speculative.
