PALMERSTON NORTH

(From our own correspondent.) February 9. Genuine regret was felt throughout the parish on hearing that the Rev. Father Bowe is about to be removed to take charge of the important mission of Carterton. The Rev. Father, who has been here for >'about two years, has endeared himself to all, both young and old, particularly to .members of the Young Men's Club. As chaplain to tbs H.A.C.B. Society he .will be much missed ; .however, what will be our loss will prove to be Cartierton's gain ; and 1 am sure all join in ' wishing him every success in his new sphere of duties. A large and representative gathering of parishioners was. held in the Zealandia Hall this evening, the object being to suitably acknowledge Father Bowe's " zealous woric m the parish. Rev. Father Costello was in the chair, and explained thie object of the meeting. It was unanimously agreed) to present Father Bowe with a purse of sovereigns, the presentation to take place at St Patrick's Social on March 18. Mr. Michael Hodeins has been appointed treasurer.
