HASTINGS
The- annual concert given by the pupils of the Catholic schools, Hastings, took place on-- the evening- of • December 18, the Very Rev. Dean Smyth presiding. , Although rather lengthy, the programme was excellent, the pupils acquitting, themselves well : and reflecting, tfhe highest credit on the nuns in charge, of the entertainment. The acting; of the children taking part in the comedy' 1 The House on the Avenue ' was particularly ■ good, and- the interpretations of the different charac- • ters were, natural and devoid of that striving' after. • effect which mars so miany juvenile performances.
