Oamaru

(From our own correspondent.) December 2. The session of the Oamaru Catholic Club was brought to a close on Friday evening, when a fancy dress social^ was held at the club rooms. There was' a good attendance, including a large number of ladies, and all present enjoyed themselves. The costumes of many of the ladies were very picturesque. A musical programme was gone through, and a much appreciated supply of light refreshments was handed round during the evening. The following contributed- items : Misses Falconer, Rodgers, Cagney, and Corcoran, and Messrs. Ford, Curran, Hannon, and Barry. The singing of ' Auld lang syne ' brought to a close a very pleasant little function. , . ' The Catholic Club has lost another popular member in the person of Mr. J. McCombie, who has received an appointment in Dunedin. His fellow-members wish him every success in his future career. A general meeting of the Catholic Club was held yesterday.- There was 1 a' fair attendance of members; and Mr. J. Wallace was voted to the chair. Mr. J. Breen was elected auditor in place of Mr. McOomfoie. It was decided to close the club for the three summer "'months, owing to most of the members being engaged in outdoor sports in the
