Deaf and Dumb Institute, Waratah

One of the noblest of the many charitable institutions in Australia is the Deaf and Dumb Institute at Waratah, New South Wales, which is conducted by the Dominican JMuns and under the direction of his Lordship the Bishop of Maitland. The benevolently disposed are reminded that there the deaf mules receive a thorough religious training, and are caretully instructed in all the branches of secular knowledge, as imparted in the Catholic and State schools A special appeal is made to the clergy who may have one or more of these afflicted children in their flocks, to use their influence to have them s^nt to the Catholic institution ajt an early age. In cases where the parents or guardians cannot afford to pay the full pension, £25 per annum, the child or children (if capable of training — that is, in possession ot full intellectual powers), will not be refused on account of poverty. In all cases application must be made to the Sister in charge. Catholic parents or guardians of deaf mutes in New Zealand, who desire to safeguard the faith of such children, should send them to this institute, where they will receive a training that will iit them boih for this world and the next. The Deaf and Dumb Institute is doing a splendid work, and deserves the generous support of the charitably disposed.
