(From our own correspondent.) September 11. The Yen. Archdeacon Devoy, who has been assisting in- the pafieh during the last few we^kis, will leave for Wellington this week. On September 119 the members of the Catftolic Club are to have the pleasure of hearing Mr O T J. Alpers', of Timacu, deliver a lecture on 'Queen Alexandra's Land.' The different pictures shown, graphically described as they were by tjhe rev. lecturer, were grea-tly apipreciatr-d and elicited the heartiest applause, and it was with a distinct feeling of regret that they heard the announcement of ' this is the ccncWdimpf picture.' Mr. J. McAuliffe proposed, and Mr. Beri seconded, a hearty vote of thanks to Father Reghauit for his entertaining and instructive lecture. The vote was carried enthusiastically, and Father Regnault briefly acknowledged same. During the evening Miss C. Beri rendered the solo, ' Why did they sell Killaxney.' There was a fair attendance of young men at| the special meeting held last Tuesday for the purpose of considering lfoe advisability of forming a Hibternian Society in T-omuka. The Rev. Father Kerley occupied the chair,, and the Yen. Archdeacon Devoy was also present. After explaining the objects of the meeting' the rev. chairman asked those present to express their views on the matiter. Mr. P.
