(From an occasional correspondent ) September 14. On last Sunday afternoon a general meeting of parishioners was held in St. Patrick's Hall for the purpose of making final arrangement's in connection with the forthcoming Empire bazaar. Rev. Fatiher Goggan presided. It was decided to open the bazaar on October 8. The 'allotment of stalls was a'lsio arranged. Considerable enthusiasm was shown, and everything promises a successful carnival. For the purpose of renewing interest in Uief Catholic Yolung Men's Club the oommi'titee arranged an open nighty to which members were privileged to unite their

lady friends. The programme consisted principally of musical items. Misses Reidy, Bradbury (Waipawa), and Mr. P. O'Connor contributed songs. Refreshments were prolvilded, and dispensed by an energetic comma Wee of ladies. Herr Lehraann, choirmaster of St. Patrick's Church, was Ip/resented on August 29, "by the members of the choir, wifh a pair of silver serviette rings on the occasion of his marriage with Miss Beatrice Vartjha, of U ellMigilon. An entertainment, called a ' pink tea,' was held in the Oddfellows' Hall, Taradalc, on August 29, in aid of the funds of the M'eanee and Taradale Young Men's Club. This club, Which is a social, literary, and recreation society, has been organised to provide rational annu'somcnt and roTreation for the young mem of the district, and is meeting with gratifying support, about 40 members having already 'joined. It 'is proposed, as soon as fuiadp are available, to erect a hall as a meetingroom and gymnasium. There was a very large attendance at the entertainment, which was presided over by Mr. T, P. O'Shannassey. The programme comprised songs, fnstrti'mcntal selections, etc. The room was attractively decorated, pink being the predominant color Nongs were contributed by Misses Pinches (Wanganui) Sullivan, Sellar, and Mr. O'Connor. Pianoforte solos' were played by Miss Sellar and Mr. A. .Grindell. A number of competitions weie held, when tlie following won pny.es : Miss Kilkenny (Puketapu), Mr. Westmoreland (Napier), and Mr. D. Crowley. A post' office was in charge of Misses K. O'Shannas'sey and O'Reilly The Rev. Pather McDonnell returned thanks to all who assisted.
