A(t the request of the menibeis of the Reefkm Literary, Debating, and Athletic Society the- hoji. secretary (Mr. W. J. Morris) has written aa accoWnt of its work since it was started two years ago. Regret is expressed at the departure of its patron, Rev. Father Hicksojn, to whom the members, especially those of the tennis club, were greatly indebted for financial and other aid. Since its formation the Society had to deplore the loss of its founder, the Very Rev. Dean Rolland. In the literary branch much sound and enduring work had been done. Meetings had been held re&ularly amd systematically, and many practical subjects were discussed. The various social gatherings and club tournaments were well attended and appreciated. It was resolved that the fee fixed for honorary members be 10s for gentlemen anfd 5s ladies.

The balance sheet for the two years ending March 31, 1904, showed the total receipts to be £138 12s 3d and tiie expenditure £155 15s lfld. The assets are valued at £115 5s 8d and the liabilities are set down at £17 3s Bd. In addition to fhe above, and not appearing in the balance sheet or assets, the Rev. Father Hickson (late patron of tthe Society) expended privately about £30 in .purchasing the rights to t<he 10 sections of ground occupied by tine tennis club, paying rates, rents, clearing, and erecting pavilions.
