A concert to celebrate the opening of the new schoolroom was held in St. Mary's Schoolroom on Tuesday evening, 14th inst. The new school was tastefully decorated for the occasion, and the very fair audience present in spite ot counter attractions expressed their appreciation of the excellent programme provided by demanding a return of the performers in almost every instance. The management of the concert was in the capable hands of our choirmaster, Mr. D. Clarke, who is to be congratulated for the grand programme presented. Rev. Father Mahony, who was the prime mover in organising the concert, thanked the performers for their services and the audience for their attendance, and hoped that this concert would be the forerunner of many more pleasant gatherings. The following was the programme : — Overture, ' Ivanhoe,' Coment pupils ; song, ' A Russian love song,' Mr. Ralfe (encored) ; duet, ' Nocturne ' (Penza), the Misses Ward ; song, ' Eileen Allanah,' Miss Murphy (encored) ; song, ' Ri\er of yeais,' Mr. P. J. Dunne ; violin solo, ' The harp that once,' Miss Burns (encored) ; son" ' The skylark,' Miss Tait (encored) ; song, 'The Arab's fanjw'll,' R"\ J'ather Mahony (encored) ; overture, ' Carnival of Venice,' Convent pupils ; song, ' Asleep in tho deep, Mr. Coltman (encored) ; song, ' Dear heart,' Miss Solomon (encored) ; piano solo, ' Hungarian dance,' Miss Gribben ; song, ' Let me like a soldier fall,' Mr. Malfroy (encored) ; flute solo, ' II trovatore,' Mr. Gibbons (double encore) ; solo, ' The star of Bethlehem, Mr. Perry (encored) ; song, ' Picaninny mine,' Miss Burgess (encored); song, ' The charmed cup,' Mr. McSherry. The accompanists were Messrs. I). Clarve, and A. D. Macfarlane, Misses Ward, Tait, Mandl, and Mrs. C. Malfroy.
