Dunedin Horse Saleyards.
Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Co. report as follows :— Close on 60 horses came forward for this week's sale. The light harness horses comprised 14 remounts short shipped for South Africa, and a consignment of a dozen hacks and harness horses from North Canterbury, The demand all through the sale was most satisfactory. There was a large attendance of 'buyers, and, with a few solitary exceptions, nearly every horse in the yards found a new owner. The sale of the remounts attracted a lot of buyers, and there was some disappointment that only half of them were offered to-day, the other half being reserved for next Saturday's Bale. This week's allotment commanded a lot of attention, and sold readily at from L 8 to LI S. We quote : — Superior young draught geldings, L 45 to LSO ; extra, good, prize horses, LSO to L 57 ; medium draught mares and geldings, L 35 to L 42 ; aged do, L 25 to L3O ; upstanding carriage horses, L 25 to L 35 ; well-matched carriage pairs, L6O to L 80; strong spring van horses, L2B to 1,32 ; uiilk cart and butchers' order cart horses, Lls to L2O ; tram horses, 1,10 to Ll4 ; light hacks, L 8 to Lls ; extra good do, L2O to L 2."> ; weedy and aged haoks and harness horßes, L 2 to L 5.
